Overview

Grasp the fundamentals of Equine Osteopathy.

Upon completion of the program, you will gain the knowledge and skills to deliver safe, rational and effective osteopathic treatment to horses, though treatment principles can be applied to other animals as well.

You will learn a wide range of techniques such as osteopathic articular balancing (OAB), short lever technique,  functional technique, and cranial osteopathy as applied to equine patients.

Both modules are delivered via LCAO´s eLearning platform, powered by Moodle software. Online studies are entirely self-paced: there is no set due date to finish it. Moreover, LCAO students and graduates retain lifetime access to all online courses and future updates.

Elective Masterclass in Clinical Training

Hands on training, Five Days

The MasterClass seminar is an optional step on your journey in equine osteopathy. Over the course of five consecutive days, you will learn advanced modalities such as cranial osteopathy, short lever and functional techniques as applied to horses. Through individual tutoring sessions and open discussions, students are encouraged to develop treatment styles relevant to the specialization of their practice.

Prof. Stuart McGregor, DO
Director of Clinical Studies

Stuart is acknowledged as a leading world expert in the field of animal osteopathy. Having graduated from the European School of Osteopathy in 1984, he holds 39 years of practical and teaching experience. Prof. McGregor has trained the majority of animal osteopaths working in the UK and many other countries around the world today.

Rachel Pechek, OMT
Head Instructor

Rachel is Head Instructor at  London College of Animal Osteopathy, who runs a busy osteopathic practice in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. Rachel has a Medical Science degree and a Master's Certificate in Osteopathy. Her professional interest lies in comprehending and researching the intricacies of animal anatomy and biomechanics.

Jim Hurden, DO

Jim´s impressive client list includes internationally competing agility dogs, five-star event horses, pedigree show bulls, and many other species. To ensure his patients receive the best possible care, Jim collaborates with consultant farriers, behaviorists, veterinary surgeons, saddle fitters, trainers, and other bodywork professionals. Since 2023, Jim has been teaching LCAO masterclasses all around the world.

Rachel Mahoney, DO

Rachel is the owner of The Dog Osteo, which is situated in NSW, Australia. She provides treatment to a diverse range of dogs, including many Australian Champion Show and Sporting Dogs. Rachel works closely with veterinarians, breeders, and dog trainers. Since 2022, she has been an LCAO Masterclass Instructor, sharing her extensive knowledge in the osteopathic treatment and rehabilitation of dogs with students all over the world.

Hanna Sheehan, DO

Hannah is an accomplished animal osteopath based in Oxfordshire, UK, who specializes in treating both small and large animals. She works closely with veterinarians and manages pre-operative diagnosis and post-operative rehabilitation. Her passion for anatomy and biomechanics is evident in her teaching, which she has been doing for 25 years alongside Stuart McGregor, both in the UK and abroad. In 2022, she joined the LCAO team as a Masterclass instructor for canine and equine osteopathy.

How are LCAO online courses delivered?

Self-paced courses and programs, with no deadlines for their completion, are available on LCAO's eLearning platform www.studyanimalosteopathyonline.com powered by Moodle software. The online learning material includes recorded lectures, video tutorials, downloadable presentations, digital textbooks, and additional readings. You may communicate with your instructor and fellow students through email, phone and a students forum. Please refer to course syllabus for details about how your study is taught.

Do I need to log in to the LCAO eLearning platform at certain times?

No. You may access your studies 24/7 from anywhere in the world. All learning happens online, so that you may complete the coursework on your own time and at your own pace.

What are the technical requirements to participate in LCAO's online courses?

LCAO's eLearning platform is designed to work at an optimal level on an internet-connected desktop, notebook or tablet. The system runs on Chrome, Safari or Firefox.

Who can benefit most from an LCAO education?

LCAO programs and courses are intended for a large audience: 1) members of the DVM/MVD community and osteopaths interested in expanding their practice to include animal osteopathy; 2)  Physiotherapists , chiropractors, massage therapists keen on working with equine and canine patients; 3) animal care professionals such as trainers, vet techs, breeders, trainers, farriers. What are my payment options?

We offer secure payment options through PayPal, Stripe or Bank Transfer. The tuition invoice can also be paid by credit or debit card (no PayPal or Stripe account is necessary). Interac e-transfer is available in Canada.
